Okay, okay, so this was a 'no-brainer' cache find for us. None-the-less we found it, logged it, and more importantly, had a fun time in the process.Wet Your Whistle is a virtual cache just a few miles from Home Sweet Home.
Found this cache on our way to Slick's piano lesson in Kinmundy, Illinois. We have known about it for quite sometime, but never actually stopped to explore...very interesting! I didn't realize how many legs support this structure! Due to age (perhaps) the serial number couldn't be read. We took a picture of it, hoping for a better angle, but it didn't come through either. Regardless, it is a treasure of a find both in the GeoCaching world and as a piece of Americana.
Since we were on a mission of other sorts, we couldn't spend too much time exploring, but did take time to get out, investigate the area, count the legs (as per the virtual cache requirements), and snap a couple of pictures with the Nokia. It's a good thing this was a 'virtual cache' as we didn't have our gear bag with us to leave anything.
Nice trip.
Carpe cache,
'Rhino'
P.S. After piano lessons we picked up D-Cat and Squirrel for trip to the St. Louis Zoo. What a nice day! If you've never visited this zoo, and you find yourself in the area, make a point to visit. It has been voted by Zaget's and Parenting Magazine as the #1 Zoo in America! ...and it's FREE!!
P.P.S. After returning home, we discovered that the UPS man had visited and dropped off our first TRAVEL BUGS!! We have named one Pōtus and will be leaving him in the Pōtus WanNabē Multi-Cache to begin his journey!
